I met you when everything in my world
was dark,
when I was left alone
by the man I trusted my whole life with,
when I needed someone
to keep me sane despite the pain.

You gave me a reason to smile
when I thought I couldn't anymore;
you gave me warmth
when I thought my entire body was frozen;
you held me so tight
when I thought I have no one to hold on to.

You put back the color in my life,
gave me a bigger reason why I should fall in love again,
made me realize that there's more to life
than a broken heart.
With me, you took it slow
until we both get there,
until we both commit to something
we have both been longing.

Sometimes,
the wrong choices, the wrong decisions
bring me to the right places,
to the right people.
He was my wrong choice,
and you were my right one.

You weren't my first man,
but I am sure enough
that you are my first love.
I couldn't be wrong with that one.

Years have passed
and you still have this special place
in my life;
you still give me those
occasional mini heart attacks
and our memories
still put a loving smile on my face.
