Eyes closed
I saw you --breathing hard, breathing fast,
practically having the worst time of your life.
I reminded you to breathe slower
and you said you couldn't,
"It hurts more," you told me.
Right there,
I felt a pool of tears ready to fall.
I wasn't prepared to see you like this.
I told you to think of your happiest times.
I asked you to close your eyes slowly
and savor each memory.
I saw you smile as you close your eyes.
A tear fell from your left eye
and it was the most beautiful moment I ever saw.
As your lips curve to a smile,
I waited, and waited, and waited patiently for you
to open your eyes once again and to look at me.
But you didn't.
Instead, you chose to have your eyes closed -- forever
and it broke me into thousand pieces.
You found your peace
and didn't want to go back anymore in this chaotic world,
but I understand -- sweet dreams.
